1.内心的驱动力

在我们看来,科比训练非常刻苦,甚至是苦。可这都是他发自内心对篮球的痴迷,就是想要练到最好。99岁高龄的英语翻译大师,许渊冲老人家,依然在翻译莎士比亚的著作,每天都翻译到凌晨,外人看来这简直比996还累啊,可是他却乐在其中。

他们都是因为内心的热爱,自发的想做到最好。在这个做的过程中,越来越熟练的成就感,又会让他们更热爱在做的这件事。

The only aspect that can’t change,though,is that obession. You have to enter every activity, every single time,with a want and need to do it to the best of your ability.

I had a constant craving, yearning to improve be the best. I never needed external forces to motivate me.

敢于提问

不怕丢脸的请教,当下不会就是不会,去问去学就好了,应该把眼光放长远,知道自己的目标是是什么,相比起来,当下这点尴尬算什么呢?

I wasn’t scared of missing, looking bad, or being embarrassed. That’s because I always kept the end result, the long game, in my mind.

My approach is that I’d rather risk embarrassment now than be embarrassed later, when I’ve won zero titles.

As a kid, I would work tirelessly on adding elements to my game. 有了内驱力和学习力之后,再来看看他有多勤奋。我们都熟悉那句“你见过凌晨五点的洛杉矶吗”,其实早起还有特别暖心的作用,练习后回家,孩子们就起来了,这样就有时间和孩子们相处。

If I started at 5AM and went until 7,I could go again from 11 until 2 and 6 until 8. By starting earlier, I set myself up for an extra workout each day.

很多球员在休息时期减少训练,但科比不会。李笑来也常说,他从来不放假,因为在他看来,每天都一样,越是别人都休息,就越是继续做。

It involved putting a lot of work and hours. It’s no lie tiring. For that reason, a lot of players pare down.Not me, though.This work might be strenuous on the day-to-day, but it left me stronger and more prepared during the dog days of the season and the playoffs.

The game started and I was accurately focused. I was in the moment, and any small thought of being the final game disappeared.

The only way I was able to pick up details on the court was by training my mind to do that off the court and focusing on every detail in my daily life.

By reading, by paying attention in class and in practice, by working, I strengthened my focus. I strengthened my ability to be present and not have a wandering mind.

刚才说过了专注,如何能快速进入状态?经常看到体育明星带着大耳机,其实他们是在调整,让自己迅速进入状态。

科比就说自己需要不同状态,会听不同的歌,如果需要提起精神,就听一些硬核的歌,如果需要舒缓,就会听高中时候常听的歌。有时候需要平静,只是假装带着耳机。

If I needed to get keyed up, I listened to hard music. If I need to soothe myself, I might play the same soundtrack on the bus in high school to put me back in that space.

NBA球星是怎么克服赛场上观众的尖叫声的?自己在场馆里不停的练习,到了场上就想象自己还是在练习的时候。这就像其他人说到如何克服演讲的恐惧,大量的练习,练习的时候假想自己就在现场演讲。

When I jogged out of the tunnel, and the fans were screaming, and it’s loud. The noise didn’t impact me. Mentally, I was able to remember the stillness of the earlier moment and carry that with me.

6.不抱怨

遇到困难,不抱怨,而是接受现实,并做自己能做的事,尽力改变。比如受伤了从不抱怨,如果只是有点痛,没什么,继续练习就好了。

That was my mindset. I never let fear or doubt seep into my psyche. I never whined and I never complained. I mean, for what?

If it was going to be painful but not get worse, I’d deal with it 100 percent of the time. That twas the only thought process for me.

After I hurt it, I had to start focusing on using my middle finger. Making that change took a couple of practices. Not average practices, though.

Days flooded with mental and physical work. I had to download the software that was the new form, and then drilling it in.

7.Mentality

坚持做对自己有用的,不要管外面流行什么,适合自己的才是最好的。

If something is working for you, why changed it up and embrace some new fad? Stick with what works, even if it’s unpopular.

想做出点什么成就,就扎进去好好做。怎么可能什么都不牺牲就能有所成就?

If you want to be in a particular area, you have to obsess over it. A lot of people say they want to be great, but they are not willing to make the sacrifice, they spread themselves out.

人生没有顶峰,而是不断精进的过程。

I guess, for some people, it might be hard to stay sharp once you‘ve reach the pinnacle. Not for me,though. It was never enough. I alway wanted to be better, wanted more. I can’t really explain it, other than I love the game but had a very short memory. That fueled me until the day I hung up my sneakers.

专注一件事,这件事会辐射到所有方面,全都好起来,因为Mentality已经形成。所以退役后,科比做的这条动画短片也获得了奥斯卡。

今天才发现这本书是两年前的今天到货的,去年今天他走以后,我放在床头每晚读一页,是读出声的那种朗读。一年后的今天,读书笔记终于写完了。
